Blues Brothers Pinball Mods

Manufactured By: Homepin

Date: April 2024

Blues Brothers Pinball is a commercial pinball machine manufactured by Homepin, released in 2024. Notable for being the world’s first open source commercial pinball machine, it features a playfield design inspired by the classic Stern Electronics’ “Stars” with additional elements themed around the 1980 musical comedy film “The Blues Brothers.”

Developed by Homepin founder Mike Kalinowski, the machine targets casual players and home users with its budget-friendly price point (US $4,950/AU $6,950) – significantly lower than contemporary machines from major manufacturers. The game includes three songs from the film: “Peter Gunn,” “Rawhide,” and “Shake Your Tailfeather.”

Key hardware features include a hybrid playfield with PETG overlay, metal side rails, 3x 6-digit displays, and a 4-speaker sound system with subwoofer. Gameplay elements include multiball modes, spinners, drop targets, and a captive ball mechanism.

What distinguishes Blues Brothers Pinball in the industry is its open source approach, allowing owners to modify the source code and customize gameplay elements without programming knowledge through community-supported tools, making it particularly appealing to newcomers and the modding community.
